Chef to the Celebrities
Thee Chef Kate
Thee Chef Kate, also known as Chef KG., is a "Chef to the celebrities," and the memoir/cookbook, "From Death Row to Death by Chocolate," was released February 1, 2023. Primarily self-taught, Kate began to refine her culinary skills by reading various cookbooks and tirelessly watching hours of culinary videos. She expanded her technical skills after earning her culinary degree in May 2021 from Tarrant County College.
Focused and intense in the kitchen, Kate's experience has shaped her into who she is today. As a correctional officer on Death Row in Texas, Kate learned how to move in a room full of sharks in the all-male maximum security facility.
Her great-grandmother Mavis Jones raised Kate in Fort Worth, Texas. She introduced Kate to cooking lessons at an early age and passed on over 80 years of cooking and baking knowledge to Kate.
In honor of her great-grandmother and her legacy, in 2011, Kate founded Mavis J. Gourmet, LLC, a catering company that specializes in Southern-Infused gourmet cuisines. The woman-owned business operates out of Fort Worth, Texas. Eight years later, Kate founded her second business, Kakes2Go, LLC, a Private Dining Bakery and Bistro.
As the owner and Executive Chef, she oversees the operation of Kakes2Go and Mavis J. Gourmet. Still, she works primarily as a private chef with clients that range from a Grammy Award-winning singer, actors, Dallas's top medical professionals, real estate moguls, pastors, executives, and college professors. When her clients look to make an impression, they bring in Thee Chef Kate.
